Exploring Latam: The landing of LessonApp in Chile in partnership with Plus Finland

LessonApp is now available in the whole territory. The tool has been commercialized by the local partner Plus Finland through Aula Finlandesa platform and it is also part of the Consultancy and Big Projects of the company.

A teacher from Easter Island – in the middle of the Pacific – can share a class with a teacher from the southernmost town on the continent. Teachers in rural areas and throughout the whole country can access to the LessonApp thanks to the collaboration with Plus Finland, a Finnish-Chilean company working on education sector in Latin America.

LessonApp is part of some projects lead by the company inside the country, and also, it is actively promoted between teachers from everywhere in Latin America, as it happened weeks ago with a workshop to learn about Finnish methodologies organized by Plus Finland and LessonApp. In this opportunity more than 50 people from Honduras, México, Perú, Venezuela, Colombia, and Chile discovered the benefits and features of the application.

Meet our partner: The Space and Universe Teaching Aid Company Ltd., Myanmar

LessonApp is delighted and proud to introduce you our diligent and skilled partners who are helping us and local change makers – teachers – in different parts of the globe. Together we can provide LessonApp localized version aiming to increase the impact in education and ultimately quality education for all.

Our company is founded in 2015, aiming to contribute in some portion of the education development for the country, Myanmar (Burma). We synthesize teaching aid for the National Curriculum which are not available for some time at public schools and students and teachers in Myanmar are not using any kind of teaching aid till then. Students are usually taking rout learning from primary to middle and high school. We initiated the introduction and use of teaching aid at public and private schools and distribute countrywide together with technology support and hands-on practical services.

Currently, Myanmar is implementing Education Reform according to National Education Strategic Plan (2016 – 2021) and has been changing National Curriculum as well as teaching methodologies. This new National Curriculum teaching methods include; ITPR techniques (Introduction, Teaching, Practice and Reflections) which are quite similar to Building Blocks of LessonApp (Orientation, New Knowledge Acquisition, Practicing and Reflection) methods, that is used in Finland. On top of that LessonApp includes Grouping and Warm-up + Action Breaks as phases of a lesson and student activation. We found that there´s a lot of similarities between the two approaches and hope that we could modify suitable ways of teaching, learning method using teaching aid between our country and Finland which will lead us to more effective and user friendly 21st century education. Thus, we are confident to start strong collaboration with LessonApp. All of the content in LessonApp (like video clips, distance teaching methods, lesson planning tool etc.) has been translated and localized to our own language and will be introduced to our school teachers. We believe that if they could use LessonApp properly in the near future, their teaching methods and attitude on education will be changed and that will lead to the development of our future generations and for our country.

  • Meet our Partner: Ongoing collaboration in the field of education between Malta and Finland

Meet our Partner: Ongoing collaboration in the field of education between Malta and Finland

Over the last three years over 600 Maltese educators have been trained on Finnish Education, Pedagogy and Finnish educational tools during seminars held in Malta. This happened thanks to Dr Kenneth Vella, Head of Mater Boni Consilii St Joseph Paola and who has Finland and his country so at heart. Dr Vella arranged these forums for professional development of teachers and exchanging of best practices among Finnish education professionals and Maltese teachers.

Apart from this, in collaboration with Learning Scoop Finland over 60 educators have already taken part in various educational experiences in Tampere. This by visiting Finnish schools and attending lectures at the premises of University of Tampere. It is expected that around 60 other Maltese educators will be travelling to Tampere to have a similar educational experience.

Also during the past months, workshops on the Finnish educational tools as LessonApp were also held in Malta. In fact Maltese educators were among the very first ones to get in touch with LessonApp, a mobile tool for teachers. The Premium version of LessonApp was launched in Malta in 2019 and currently over 500 Maltese teachers are using LessonApp while conducting lessons in their respective schools. Through the use of LessonApp, the Maltese teachers are getting fresh ideas for their lessons for better learning and help with their everyday workload.

These are great examples of collaboration and can-do attitude between Malta and Finland. It has been our pure joy and privilege to collaborate with Dr Kenneth Vella in these initiatives. This collaboration between us eventually led also to the establishing of more contacts between Dr Vella and other Finnish entities.

Meanwhile special thanks goes also to the former Minister of Education and Employment and present Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon Evarist Bartolo for supporting Dr Vella and us in these ongoing ventures.
